Supporting youth mental health through music activities
One in four Australian youth have experienced some form of mental health issue.
Over 75% of mental health issues occur before the age of 25.
Music is a powerful thing – the universal common language has the ability to help us all feel, heal and connect.
In 2022, Liz Tripodi, Emanuele Mamo & Ricky Muscat launched The Vas Foundation. As strong advocates for mental health support and services, which they themselves have used throughout their own lives, the trio felt the need to give back.
With a collective 65 years of experience in mentoring and supporting youth talent in Australia they decided to start the foundation to help young people using the power of music that is proven to improve physical, mental and emotional well being.
The Foundation is helping youth through music activities including music workshops, live events and performances, scholarships in music tuition, recording, songwriting and attending workshops or courses to further musical development. Priority will be given to Youth, First Nations young people, asylum seekers and refugees, LGBTQIA+ and youth living with disability.
The VAS Foundation respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation; who are the Traditional Owners of the land on which The Vas Foundation is located, and pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging.
